New everything!

I know it's been forever since I've written! We have moved yet again. We are now in Camp Lejeune, NC! We are currently in a hotel waiting to move into our new house on base and I can't wait! I'm so excited to finally decorate a home! God has been watching out for us as He always does! I'm job hunting, church hunting, and friend hunting. Jeremy leaves very soon so this will be an adventure for sure! I can't promise I will keep this blog up, but I will try to update every now and then!

Holiday Crafts

Since I have had so much free time lately, I decided to take up a hobby. A few weeks ago I went to lunch with my good friend Jennifer. We came across some cute holiday decorations and I became inspired. I went to 6 different craft stores looking for what I needed. If we had a Hobby Lobby, I would have only had to go to one. HL is opening here soon and I can't wait!!!


I bought some cardboard letters, painted them, and modge podged scrapbook paper onto them. I loved how they turned out and I can't wait for these two holidays!

MIA

I know I haven't been writing lately, but things have been quiet here!

Jeremy and I have enjoyed seeing each other more now that he is at his new school. He is loving communications school, and I love that he gets home early everyday! He has about 4 months left before we move again!

We have also enjoyed hanging out with friends from church. We are blessed with the friendships we've made at North Stafford Church of Christ and are so sad to leave them in December! We are making the most of the time we have left. We love having Bible studies, playing games, and going out to eat with wonderful Christian couples who inspire us to be better people!

I am waiting for the school year to start back up and get to substitute teaching again. I have been trying to be crafty lately and will share pictures soon, I promise! I'm almost done with my latest project.

I will leave you with this ADORABLE picture of my nephew Jaxon who I can't wait to see again at Thanksgiving (which seems like forever ways away)! He's almost 3 months old already!

Jamboree!

We got to see Jeremy's twin brothers last weekend! They are spending a couple of weeks in the area for the National Boy Scout Jamboree. We met up with their troop in DC for dinner one night. They are now at Fort A.P. Hill with about 45,000 other scouts. Jeremy went to the Jamboree when he was a scout so he shared his wisdom of what to except with the boys. It was good to see Jimmy and Robert even if it was just a short visit!

East Coast...

...here we come!

We know we will staying on the East Coast for the next 3 years. We don't know where we will be yet, but our possibilities are Camp Lejeune, NC; Cherry Point, NC; Beaufort, SC; or Albany, GA. Most likely, we will be in North Carolina!  We will find our where in October.

We choose the East Coast, as it is best for what Jeremy wants to do in his career. We are excited to find out where we are going so we can find a place to live and I can look for a job!

Not much has been happening here in Quantico. Jeremy has started his Communications School and is loving every bit of it. He has about 2 tests a week, so he studies a lot.

Kings Dominion

The day after we got back from Boston, Jeremy and I volunteered to go to Kings Dominion with our youth group at church as chaperons. Kings Dominion is an amusement park located 40 miles south of us. The park was hosting Christian bands that night including Toby Mac, Chris Tomlin, Fireflight, Remedy Drive, CJ Blount, and David Nasser.

We were so excited to ride some roller coasters and see the bands! 6 kids ended up going along with 2 other adults, one being the youth intern. We got there around 10 and started riding rides! We were having a great time, but it was very HOT! I started to get a migraine which is not unusual and took some medicine. After a few more rides and lunch I still had a migraine and took some more meds. It was not helping, but I was hanging in there, determined to have a good time!

Jeremy and I went and jumped in the wave pool to cool off and met back up with the group for an indoor roller coaster. When I got off the ride, I had the worst pain in my head I'd ever felt. I looked at Jeremy and said, "We need to go to the car, I think I need to go to the ER." My head was in so much pain and I couldn't stop crying it hurt so bad! Jeremy rushed me to the ER which was a good 20 minutes away.

The ER got me in very quickly. They did a cat scan and everything was fine there. They gave me some medicine and fluids through an iv and sent me on my way. I was feeling much better, but very tired. They think it was a mixture of a migraine, the rides, and dehydration.

We were back on the road in 2 and a half hours. We went back to the park to get the kids, but the concert wasn't over yet. I was wiped out from the medicines so I stayed in the car and rolled down the windows to hear the end of Toby Mac. Overall I think the kids had a great time. Jeremy and I are planning to go back one day to ride the rest of the rides we didn't get to ride! It was quiet a day that's for sure!

BOSTON Part 2

Let's see where I left off...oh yes Freedom Trail!

Jeremy headed out to walk the Freedom Trail Tuesday morning. I decided to wait and join him closer to the end of the trail since it was so HOT! Here are a few pictures from his historic walk.

That afternoon after a quick stop at Harvard, we decided to head back to hotel and have some drinks by the pool. It was so hot and humid and we couldn't wait to jump in the pool!

The next day we headed to Plymouth. I had been to Plymouth as a child, but all I remember doing there was seeing the rock.

After that we went to Quincy to the Adams National Historic Park. They have the homes where John Adams and John Quincy Adams were born and a home where 4 generations of the Adams family lived. Here is one of them.

We had a great time in Boston and enjoyed being together without having to worry about work! It was a good break! Stay tuned for the next post about King's Dominion amusement park and a trip to the ER!

BOSTON Part 1

Jeremy is on leave so we headed to Boston for 5 days! It took us forever to get their with the holiday traffic so we stopped half way in Stamford, Connecticut. We arrived in Boston Saturday afternoon and headed to the Red Sox game! Boston beat the Baltimore Orioles 9 to 3 so it was a great game!

Sunday we headed to the Navy Yard to see the USS Constitution come back into the harbor from doing a 21 gun salute and sailing for the holiday.

We took the ferry over to Quincy Market to eat and peeked in Faneuil Hall

We then stopped by Cheers on our way to the our fireworks stop

We found a small plot of land to claim for the fireworks show on the esplanade. We couldn't see the Boston Pops Orchestra and Toby Keith, but we could hear it! We had a great spot for the fireworks. It was packed down there, but we got lucky going to our hotel after the show because a bus was going directly to our stop and we got back within 30 minutes!

Monday, we headed to Salem, MA to go to the Salem Witch Museum where we learned about the witch trials, then we went to the Minuteman National Historical Park and learned about the Lexington/Concord battle along the road to Boston

TBS Graduation

These past six months were long and hard, but it's finally over!!

Here I am at Warrior Day. They let the family come check out what the Marines had been up to the past 6 months. I had fun playing with the big guns!

Jeremy will now attend Communications school here at Quantico for another 6 months. We should find out in a few months where we will move after that!

2 Years!

2 years ago yesterday Jeremy and I were married on the beach in Hawaii.

So much has happened since then. We've been separated due to deployments and training, we've moved to the other side of the US, we've lived in 2 homes, and much more in these last 2 years! These last 2 years have been a whirlwind of excitement and I'm so glad I've gotten to spend it with Jeremy!

The General's House

Warning this post has details for  my mom and those who are interested!

Last night I had the honor of attending a dinner at a 3 star General's House. They invited all the spouses from Jeremy's company over to welcome us to the Marine Corps, thank us, and teach us how to be Officer Wives. I wish I could have taken pictures! Some girls did take some before we left on their phones so here those are.

It was a fun night. We were sent the book Parade Rest to review before attending. It is a book of Marine Officer Customs and Protocol. We were also sent instructions on what to wear and bring. The dress code was casual, no jeans. We were to keep handbags to a minimum. We were to bring a hostess gift in a form of a donation to a charity. We met off site and were bused to the beautiful house on Quantico.

They started off with a "cocktail hour" on the deck. We mingled with the fellow wives, the new CO of TBS, the General and his wife, and other higher-up spouses. After this we enjoyed dinner on the deck prepared by the Enlisted Aides. There were 6 aides there to serve the meal. The General has an aide everyday from 7:30-3:00 to cook and clean the house. Jeremy said he also has aides that drive him around and other things.

The menu was:

Caribbean Jerk Pork Tenderloin with Pinneapple Salsa
Saffron Rice
Vegetable Medley
Summer Garden Tortellini with Chicken
Key Lime Pie with Passion Fruit and Huckleberry Compote

They then went over the protocol. Most of the things we talked about were basic etiquette rules. The one thing I do not agree with is the "dress code". We are not supposed to wear certain clothes to the commissary (grocery store) on base. We can't wear flip flops, gym clothes, or short shorts. I always wear flip flops and will continue to do so...at least until I get kicked out. Gym clothes...really? It's a grocery store! What if I want to stop by the store on my way home from the gym or if I just want to be comfy. They said we need to be examples for the younger wives....wait I am a younger wife. Hawaii was much more laid back about the dress code. I wore my work out shorts and flip flops to the commissary every time and never had a second thought. 

Overall it was a nice evening and the food was delicious. And I enjoyed catching up with all the spouses!
